BOATS AND EQUIPMENT

The Desert Sports Diving club has three boats that are available at any given time to members of the club as long as the member or a person from his party is qualified as a boat handler. If a member wishes to organise a dive and have/are a certfied boat handler, they must contact the Diving Officer - Jim Darbyshire.

The Equipment Officer is s and he's always at the club (in the bar) by about 8.00pm on a Monday night when you can hire equipment from him.

Equipment available:-

  • 16 Cylinders - mostly 12 litre aluminium for air (including air)
  • 2 Cylinders - steel O2 cleaned (for nitrox – nitox fill AED 15 extra).
  • 7 Regulator sets with octopus.
  • 5 BCDs of various shapes, styles and sizes.

All the above items are available on a weekly, yes weekly, rate of AED 20 per item. Pick up on Monday's and drop back the following Monday.

Air and Nitrox

Air is free for all club members!!!!!!

Leave your empty cylinder on the right hand side of the compressor room porch, and when they are filled they will end up on the left hand side ready for your collection! Compressor operates from 7pm to 8pm through to 10pm on Monday (club) nights.

A compressor rota is set up so that those of you who do not know how to work a compressor can learn and those of you who know how to operate it can show those who can't! Then everyone can take turns and help fill the tanks every week rather than leaving it to just one or two to do.

We are also able to provide nitrox fills at AED 15 per cylinder or a 12 month unlimited fills season ticket at AED 300 – a real bargain for the serious nitrox diver.

If you are not a qualified Nitrox blender please speak nicely to someone that is and I'm sure they will help you get your cylinder filled or speak to the training officer an get yourself on a nitrox blending course!
